Lincolnton Celebrates National Pie Day

Event-goers wait their turn to sample the sweet treats.

Lincolnton- Created by the American Pie Council, National Pie Day is dedicated to the celebration of one of the nation’s favorite dessert. January 23 , or 1-23, was chosen  to be the official date to celebrate due to pie is easy as 1-2-3.

43 different pies were up for sampling.

National Pie Day has been celebrated in Lincolnton for 14 years by the Lincoln County Cooperative Extension. And this year saw their biggest turnout yet.

Brandon McBride, age 3, of Lincolnton takes a bite out of a tasty pie.

Hundreds attended the showcase of desserts Tuesday at the James W. Warren Citizens Center. And with a total of 86 pies ( 43 different ) up for sampling, no one left unfilled.

Riley Oxendine and Isaiah Ewing, both age 4 of Dallas, get a plate full of pie.
